FAA Will Be Taking Public Comments On Minimum Seat Size Standards
On Friday, the FAA announced it will publish an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) on airline minimum seat size standards. Any member of the public will have 90 days to submit comments on the issue.
Congress ordered the FAA to establish minimum seat size standards in 2018. However, it has taken until this year for the FAA to publish its 2019-2020 emergency evacuation testing results and the FAA Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee's (ARAC) report and recommendations from 2020.
The FAA has yet to comply.
