1. Air Safety

Safety is Not Negotiable

Safety is Not Negotiable

While the NTSB tries to determine why the China Eastern 737-800 crashed, it is important to keep in mind that inflight incidents, accidents and emergencies are not unusual even though not publicized. For example, since November there have been over 50 inflight safety incidents and accidents with the 737-800 and over 150 with the 737 MAX since January 2021.

Safety vigilance is essential to the maintenance of safe air travel. And as the number of flights worldwide increases, safety must not just be maintained but improved to prevent a major increase in fatal accidents.

FlyerRights is the major voice and advocate for passengers on safety issues before the FAA, serving on its Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee and its Emergency Evacuation Advisory Rulemaking Committee.  Paul Hudson, President of FlyersRights, is attending and actively participating as a voting member in over 24 all day meetings since 2019.

And only FlyersRights takes the FAA and DOT to court when they fail to do their job of protecting passenger safety and consumer rights. It has done so to stop seat shrinkage 3x, for 737 MAX safety 3x, for flight delay compensation and mitigation 3x, and for aviation security 2x.

But we cannot do this important work effectively without more passenger support. Passengers who really care need to make a pledge of $10 to $25 or more monthly or an annual pledge of at least $100 so FlyersRights.org can continue. Air travel safety, health, and security plus reliability and costs depend more than ever on FlyersRights watchdog role over airlines, plane makers and government agencies.

Aviation corporations and airport authorities  seek maximum revenue and profits.  Government bureaucrats and their political bosses generally favor industry, seek secrecy and shun accountability. Unions seek higher pay and easier working conditions for their members. The 535 members of Congress and their staffs enjoy special airline privileges and large campaign donations. The media publicizes abuses sporadically but does not and cannot do the long term hard work involved in public interest advocacy and reform.

Only FlyersRights is dedicated and totally focused on the rights and interests of airline passengers. And only YOU can provide the needed resources.
